Sungkyunkwan University's Engineering College growth is amazing
Someone posted the regular admission results below
Sungkyunkwan University's Engineering College has admission scores almost on par with Yonsei and Korea University
Since regular admissions involve cutting off the tail end and the number of students recruited isn't that large,
I don't think it holds much significance
What I am closely monitoring in the STEM field
is the early admission (Susi) recruitment, which accounts for over 70% and includes students from Gifted High Schools and Science High Schools
For Gifted High Schools, SNU is overwhelmingly dominant, followed by KAIST and Yonsei, then Korea University and Hanyang University are similar
However, for Science High Schools, the most frequent destinations are KAIST, Sungkyunkwan University, and SNU
Strangely, there is a very high preference for Sungkyunkwan University among Science High School students;
People think it is lower than Yonsei or Korea University, but that is the reality
And looking at professors in the STEM field, the faculty at Sungkyunkwan is quite excellent
Many move from KAIST, GIST, POSTECH, etc. (The salaries are high; Sungkyunkwan likely has the highest professor salaries among domestic universities)
Ultimately, it seems Sungkyunkwan benefits from the Samsung boost
and improves according to capital;
Hanyang, Sogang, etc., will need to step up their game in the STEM field.
