Modern and contemporary history has been severely manipulated.
I used to think I knew modern and contemporary history quite well,
but after realizing that something was seriously wrong,
I've been re-reading it for several years now.
The current mainstream version of modern history
originates from the Haejeon-sa (History of the Sea),
which was originally used to educate students
to become communists.
Over time, the contents of Haejeon-sa
were slightly altered,
packaged as objective truth,
and became the current mainstream historical narrative.
The content you see in broadcasts or movies
is almost entirely based on those narratives.
Then, upon realizing the manipulation, I started reading again,
and what's truly absurd is
that a mere individual, not even a scholar,
is able to realize how it was manipulated while reading;
it's a truly ridiculous situation.
In fact, the other side is also at fault,
as there is a lack of content explaining what actual history was like.
On the other hand, there is far too much content
on the Haejeon-sa side of history.
It's difficult to write more because the details are complex, but..
In a broad sense,
all content regarding the cruelty of communists has been omitted,
and in the historical flow, only the independence movement and democratization movements
are emphasized, while the rest is described almost entirely negatively.
Anyway, what's absurd is
that instead of viewing history as objective fact,
one has to read while considering it a battlefield for political struggle
and contemplating how it has been manipulated;
it is a truly ridiculous reality.
