Looking at the younger siblings getting married lately
There has long been a sort of unofficial tradition where
the man provides the housing, whether it's a rental deposit or owned (if he has the means),
and the woman's family sends a gift package called "Yedan," consisting of cash envelopes and various items, to the man's family.
But these days, young women are the first to say, "We don't do all that anymore! That's an old-fashioned thing!"
and they are skipping these customs.
I can understand skipping that part, I suppose.
But "the man provides the house!"—that part seems to remain unchanged.
Listening to the younger siblings getting married recently, it seems to be a trend these days.
It's quite something how they delete the part where the woman sends things to the man as an "outdated custom,"
yet they consider it natural for the man to provide the house.
