Japan has so many narrow alleys, even in the middle of big cities.

There were far more alleys that couldn't even fit two cars passing each other than I imagined.
It was to the point where I wondered if they were all one-way streets.
It also made me think that it would be impossible to even attempt illegal parking.
It felt a bit suffocating.
Even though they must have been devastated during WWII, I wondered if there was really a need to make the roads so narrow when rebuilding.
