I believe this is a natural and normal social phenomenon.
* Just as students weigh KAIST or POSTECH against Seoul National University,
while bypassing Yonsei, Korea, or Sungkyunkwan University.
** KAIST admitted its first undergraduate class in 1986
POSTECH was founded in 1986 and admitted its first undergraduate class in 1987
Even though KAIST and POSTECH have shorter histories than the regional flagship national universities, they became prestigious universities overnight.
