The controversy over historical distortion surrounding the film <Assassins> continues to cause an uproar, even leading to movements to boycott the product and the termination of new product advertising campaigns for the starring actors.
People's Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo, who faced criticism for calling actor Yoo Hae-jin—who appeared in <Assassins>—a "North Korean type," is continuing his offensive by even bringing up the cast members' incentives.
Without showing any interest in the actual content of the film, he is suppressing culture and arts through anachronistic methods, such as provoking nostalgia for dictators and employing "red-baiting" tactics to solidify his own political position.
