Why many people view the Joseon Dynasty negatively

Ultimately, I think the biggest reason is that we were colonized.
At that time, there were very few countries outside of Europe that did not experience colonization.
India was colonized,
and even China lost almost all of Manchuria and its southeastern regions.
Japan is a special case.
Personally, I believe there is no need to feel ashamed of having been colonized.
I want to argue that we should move past this colonial victim mentality.
What is truly shameful is the division of our nation.
