According to industry sources on the 12th, Chairman Chey stated at the Honam region semiconductor cluster site on the 9th, "Since demand is increasing at a rapid pace, we must accelerate the speed of supply as much as possible," adding, "If the situation allows us to build here, we will build at the fastest possible speed."
He emphasized, "If we can break ground and start construction, we will do so at the fastest possible speed first," and "Even if water and power supply are delayed, our intention is to move in first as long as we can expedite the filing process."
This expresses his determination to commence fab construction early, regardless of the infrastructure development schedule.
Chairman Chey also announced plans to invest aggressively without sparing costs for the Honam region cluster. He mentioned that he envisions the Honam cluster to be two-thirds the size of the Yongin cluster, while leaving the possibility open for it to expand further depending on demand.
