A question about female psychology

There is a social group I attend from time to time.
When an older guy I met through the group mentioned he was moving,
one of the female organizers told him to come stay at her apartment.
After hearing that, another female organizer casually threw out a recommendation for her own apartment instead.
Why are those women acting like that??
