My house prices must rise, and others must fail?
While the recent fluctuations in presidential approval ratings might seem like a simple political issue on the surface, they are actually rooted in money—specifically, the individual desires and economic interests of the citizens. Asset owners and high-income earners are reacting strongly against the tax burden, while on the other hand, non-homeowners and young people are venting their frustration, claiming that "the ladder for social mobility has been completely broken." With the stock market also being volatile, distrust in policy and anxiety among retail investors are also growing in reality.
Everyone shouts "we must curb the ruinous real estate market," but honestly, their true feelings are different. Deep down, they think, 'My house prices must go up, and others shouldn't be able to achieve the same assets without struggling as much as I did.' This instinct for wealth accumulation—the feeling that "I cannot be the only one left behind"—is actually a very human desire, so it's not something that can be dismissed as purely selfish, though those who pretend otherwise are even worse. Ultimately, it is the President's job to soothe these instinctive fears and selfishness, persuade the people, and build a social consensus, but no matter which side they take, they are bound to face criticism.
Regarding the praise for a specific candidate at the ruling party's national convention, people are barking about violations of neutrality in the primary and interference in party affairs, but they are just making a fuss because a puppet they can manipulate wasn't elected.
They kept their mouths shut during the Yoon era, but I guess Lee Jae-myung seems like an easy target..
When the President directly stated, "I will push forward even if it costs me votes," it was because he sees the magnitude of the issue and has made a decision for the future. The results will eventually prove it through a stabilized real estate market, mitigated polarization, and a revitalized real economy..
He is doing this knowing he will be criticized and his approval ratings will plummet. Since the sword has been drawn, I hope he succeeds.
