Shouldn't the Olympics and Asian Games be abolished?

‌They require massive amounts of national funding to host.
We could just run professional or corporate leagues instead.
Why must we gather every single sport into one event?
Is it for comprehensive competition?
We could just go to places that already have good infrastructure.
