Will there ever be a time when Germany's military power rivals or matches ours? (In 10–30 years)
This is just my question.
There were times when Germany spent 248 trillion won on defense (nearly 3 times that of South Korea).
The biggest problem is that they have few troops (soldiers) to operate weapons and limited active equipment, and the unit costs are high. While there is a trend of immigrants joining the German military, German youth have a very weak sense of national security—some even joke about surrendering to Russia rather than enlisting.
However, South Korea is also facing a shrinking youth population due to low birth rates and an aging society, with the number of people over 60 increasing exponentially. Our troop numbers are continuously being reduced, and divisions have been steadily disbanded. Currently, aside from the Special Warfare Command, the Marine Corps, and other special forces (UDT, SEAL), our military isn't exactly the most reliable.
That said, our artillery power is ranked 3rd in the world, and the 7th Maneuver Corps is ranked 3rd (Russia 2nd, USA 1st), which is quite impressive.
But,
If global security remains unstable and Russia continues to instigate wars, I believe that in 30 to 50 years, Germany will eventually possess multiple nuclear weapons, and its Army, Air Force, and Navy (which doesn't need much expansion) will all rank within the top 5 to 7 in the world. Of course, if security or war threats disappear in the meantime and they reduce military spending or disarmament occurs, they will never be able to catch up to our military power.
P.S: I injured a few fingers (sprain pain), so I wrote this somewhat disorganizedly. Please be understanding if it's hard to follow or if there are issues with the text. If I am thinking incorrectly or if there is wrong information, please feel free to point it out or offer a counterargument. *^
