People who rely on smooth talk to get by will collapse in an instant.

‌Whether in school or at work,
there are people who think, "I can get away with this if I just use my wits and talk my way out of it."
Because that approach works well sometimes, they gain confidence in their ability to improvise,
and the moment they become convinced that people generally fall for it, they lose even their sense of shame.
However, as these incidents accumulate, not only the wise who noticed early on,
but even those who blindly trusted them and those close to them will turn their backs; there are no exceptions.
After that point, no matter what they say, the situation only worsens.
When credibility has hit rock bottom, any sweet talk only serves to increase resentment.
