I make a living as a designated driver, but honestly, cars scare me

They say thousands of traffic accidents occur in this country every single day.
Even though I am a designated driver who makes a living behind the wheel, every time I grab the steering wheel, I can't help but think how terrifying cars truly are.
With the mindset of "I am heading out onto the road driving a lethal weapon," I focus on defensive and safe driving as much as possible every day.
However, once I get out on the road, I encounter all sorts of people.
There are countless times when I find myself wondering, "What on earth is that person thinking while driving like that?" or "Is that even legal?"
It might cost me my livelihood... but I hope fully autonomous driving is completed as soon as possible so that the day comes when humans no longer have to drive themselves. Seeing the roads every day, no matter how much I think about it, that seems to be the right direction.
