Did Trump believe that reducing US military support to allies would solve everything?
The US has recently begun reducing its military presence in Europe, Northeast Asia, and the Middle East, believing that the actual benefits gained are small compared to the efforts invested in supporting allies.
Did Trump judge that this would make allies even more dependent on the US in the face of threats from hostile forces?
However, the reality is that they are simply seeking alliances with those very hostile forces.
Germany is doing this, and Saudi Arabia is doing this.
If the US cannot provide protection, allies will have no choice but to seek other paths.
It is difficult to trust a US that only demands money without providing protection...
It seems the US needs to present a clearer vision for its alliances to prevent such chaos,
but I suppose that is difficult.
