(Editorial) To Yong Hye-in, "The Maori's Taonga and Hau..."

<The story of the Maori's Taonga and Hau>
The Maori people of New Zealand
have passed down a beautiful tradition for a long time,
and that is 'Taonga' and 'Hau'.
Today, in modern language, Taonga means 'objects (goods)',
and the Maori believed that a spirit dwells within these Taonga.
And that spirit is the Hau.
Taonga comes from nature. In other words, the Hau of the land, mountains,
rivers, forests, and lakes dwells within the Taonga
as it comes to the Maori people. Because of this, the Maori say
that one must not possess Taonga forever.
They believe that if someone tries to possess Taonga eternally,
they will fall ill or die from the curse of the Hau.
Taonga imbued with Hau hopes to return to its home,
nature, and those who prevent this are said to surely be cursed. Therefore,
one must possess Taonga only for a certain period
and then transfer ownership to other members of the tribe.
Through these beliefs and convictions, objects, or Taonga, continue to circulate
among the Maori people.
The spirit of nature (Hau) dwelling within objects (Taonga) and the
Maori's belief and conviction regarding it naturally suppressed
individual greed and the desire for possession, creating a wise and
beautiful community worldview that commands admiration. ~
At this point in time, I wonder if what Representative Yong Hye-in needs
is not the beautiful worldview of the Maori's 'Taonga' and 'Hau'.
