Is it being extra to avoid Chinese-made kimchi in restaurants?

I was having a meal with an acquaintance,
and they told me they absolutely never eat Chinese-made kimchi.
They said they check the origin of the kimchi when they go to a restaurant,
and if it's from China, they won't eat it no matter what..
Even at soup specialty restaurants,
the kimchi might be Chinese-made,
but they said the radish kimchi or diced radish kimchi is often domestic.
So anyway, they said they avoid restaurant kimchi whenever possible.
