According to the Blue House on the 3rd, National Security Advisor Wi Seong-lac said,
Wi stated, "The 'two states' theory is North Korea's position," and "Since it is not our government's position, we have taken necessary measures with the Chinese government."
He explained, "According to the agreement made when South Korea and China established diplomatic relations, China is supposed to support our unification," and "We conveyed that such expressions could potentially lead to misunderstandings and do not align with our position."
He further emphasized, "If it becomes 'two states,' we move away from unification, which contradicts our position," and "We are requesting that they refrain from using expressions that could cause such misunderstandings."
However, Wi added, "Minister Wang did not mention 'two states' when he met with me," and "While similar topics have been mentioned in other consultation processes, it was a level of expression that China has used in the past."
