Do couples tell each other "My birthday is coming up" when it's approaching?

‌As I get older, I don't find birthdays to be such a big deal anymore.
We've been dating for over a year now; since last year was our first, I did mention it.
But my birthday came around again this year, and they didn't seem to know.
I have it set on my KakaoTalk profile, but I felt awkward asking them to look at it or bringing it up myself.
So I just let it pass.
But if I tell them later, will they feel hurt?
The reason I didn't say anything is because
it feels awkward to explicitly say "It's my birthday,"
and since I'm getting older, I'm also just too lazy to make a fuss about it lol
