Why we shouldn't abolish military exemptions for the Asian Games
If we abolish military exemptions for the Asian Games, world-class athletes like Son Heung-min, Lee Kang-in, Ryu Hyun-jin, and Park Chan-ho would have to join the military during their prime years, preventing them from providing entertainment to fans. Wouldn't that be a national loss?
It's not as if our national defense capability is strengthened just because those few individuals join the military; rather, it would be more helpful to national defense if they were exempt, allowing them to earn tens of billions abroad and contribute billions in taxes.
If you feel a sense of deprivation because you served in the military while they didn't, I believe there is no need to abolish the exemption. This is because the total sum of joy and happiness they provide to the public through their amazing performances in top overseas leagues is greater than the total sum of deprivation felt by those citizens. That is simply my personal opinion...
From the perspective of social value creation, military exemptions for athletes would also be more beneficial.
