I haven't really watched volleyball since Kim Yeon-koung retired, but...
The moment I was watching the women's volleyball league and thought, "I really shouldn't watch this anymore," was
when Pepper was playing a league match against another team, and Pepper kept missing serves. Instead of points being scored through successful attacks, the game was progressing through mutual unforced errors. That was pathetic enough, but what was even more annoying was that the commentators kept rambling about "pressure," claiming the players were making errors because they felt pressured.
An unforced error should happen occasionally to be considered an error; if there are more errors than normal plays, that's just a lack of skill. I found it so cheap how they tried to sugarcoat it with the word "pressure."
If a player who performs well domestically kept making repeated errors during an international tournament, I might at least try to understand the "pressure" argument, but since they kept spouting that nonsense during the domestic league, I changed the channel, and I think that's when I started avoiding women's volleyball.
Honestly, it was all hidden behind Kim Yeon-koung's reputation, but the fundamentals are just too poor.
The only thing they know how to do is rely entirely on foreign players.
