Hits 35%... Lowest since the inauguration of the Lee administration
According to opinion poll results released on the 9th, the Democratic Party of Korea's approval rating recorded 35%, the lowest since the inauguration of the Lee Jae-myung administration. During the national convention process last August, Chairman Kim Min-seok pledged, "I will raise the approval rating by 10 percentage points (p) within 100 days of taking office," but as of today, more than 50 days into his term, he has failed to reverse the declining trend. Among Democratic Party lawmakers, comments such as "This is a result of worsening public opinion regarding the government's inconsistent policies, such as real estate and farmland investigations, spreading to the ruling party" and "Chairman Kim's disconnected perception of reality, such as saying 'Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won is a better appointment the more you look at him,' is the problem" have emerged.
According to a Gallup Korea survey conducted via wireless telephone interviews with 1,000 adults nationwide from the 6th to the 8th, the Democratic Party's approval rating was 35%, a 5%p drop from the previous survey three weeks ago. It has been steadily falling from 41% just before Chairman Kim took office on August 17. President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating was also at a low of 37%, the same as the previous survey.

The Democratic Party's approval rating in Seoul and the Incheon/Gyeonggi regions were 29% and 37%, respectively, falling by 6%p and 8%p compared to three weeks ago. Even in Honam, considered a stronghold, it fell by 7%p over the three weeks to record 61%. The Democratic Party's approval rating among those in their 20s and 30s fell by 4%p and 7%, respectively, to 23% and 27%. The approval rating among those in their 40s and 50s, considered the core support base for the ruling party, also fell from 50% to 48% and from 57% to 50%, respectively.
