"I am a Hyundai Motor shareholder. The stock price is the same as a year ago"... Even Yeouido is lowering target prices

KB Securities estimated that Hyundai Motor's operating profit for this year and next year will be 9.9 trillion won and 8.9 trillion won, respectively, representing a decrease of 14.1% and 9.4% compared to the previous year. These figures are 11.1% and 29.7% lower than the market consensus, respectively.
Kang Seong-jin, a researcher at KB Securities, analyzed that "while the damage from production decreases will ease after the fourth quarter of this year, factors such as decreased contribution margin due to material costs and mix changes, as well as the normalization of warranty expenses, will act as factors reducing profits." He noted that the downward revision of next year's operating profit forecast was due to changes in exchange rate assumptions (reflecting a stronger won).
Eugene Investment & Securities also lowered Hyundai Motor's target price by 20%, from 750,000 won to 600,000 won. Lee Jae-il, a researcher at Eugene Investment & Securities, pointed out, "Hyundai Motor's sluggish sales are becoming prolonged. While there are one-off factors such as engine production disruptions in the second quarter and strikes in the third quarter, the problem is that they are losing market share to Chinese EVs in the domestic and EU markets due to the absence of a low-cost EV (Electric Vehicle) model lineup."
With the operating profit forecasts from the securities industry looking poor, it does not seem easy to see a rebound.
