When looking for a studio apartment, do you take things like transportation costs into account?

Do you look for places while assuming you'll just have to swallow the costs for things like bus and taxi fares?
It might be one thing if it's near the area where you currently live, but
if you're moving to a different area further away, you don't know the area well.
