Reflections on human relationships as one gets older

Although I still have a long life ahead of me, I believe that our evaluations of people are primarily shaped by our friends and professional connections.
Friendships also tend to settle into a certain pattern once you get married and age.
However, unless you throw a massive tantrum, friendships that aren't driven by self-interest tend to last a long time.
Just as there is a saying that you should always look after old friends even if you become temporarily distant or can't hang out often,
those kinds of friends are re-evaluated; even if you act out once or twice in a comfortable relationship, as long as it's not out of greed, I don't think friends will make an issue of it.
