The more I study Yahweh in Christianity, the more disappointed I become.
I've been studying Christianity thinking that believing might bring some peace of mind. Most people tend to think that the Devil is the bad guy and Yahweh/God is a kind and benevolent being.
But as I study, it turns out Yahweh/God isn't exactly a "kind" being. He's just an absolute ruler who constantly tests humans and tortures or punishes them if they don't believe.
The Devil is just a subordinate below him. The reason humans suffer now is because they ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil—meaning, they didn't listen to Him.
Even if a god like this actually exists, I'm not even sure if believing in Him would lead to salvation. In the first place, believing in God doesn't guarantee salvation; it's just up to the whim of the absolute ruler.
If you please the absolute ruler, you go to Heaven; otherwise, you go to Avici Hell lol. Even the Devil goes to that Avici Hell. I honestly don't know if a god like this would even be pleased by someone living a virtuous life.
He himself doesn't seem all that kind. Is a god truly "good" if he tortures people just because they don't believe in him?
