Choosing the TGV when introducing the KTX in our country was a good decision, right?

I didn't know this, but
it turns out our KTX was actually Roh Tae-woo's presidential campaign promise ㄷㄷㄷ
Since it was 1987, it was really back in the day, but what's even more surprising is that
to connect the high-speed rail to Seoul and Gangneung,
the entities that sent business proposals in 1991
were France's TGV, Germany's ICE, and Japan's Shinkansen.
TGV had the technology that held the Guinness World Record for the highest speed at the time,
ICE had the advantage of a wide body and ride comfort, but
a major accident occurred back then (it has been accident-free since that one incident).
The Shinkansen was obviously out of the question due to national sentiment.
I'm not a train expert, but
seeing how Lee Jae-myung received such a warm welcome in France today
made me think of this.
