Isn't the villain in the movie Titanic actually a very magnanimous person?

When you see some random guy who is much lower in social status hanging out with your fiancée like that,
the default reaction would be to let out a stream of curses.
Just the fact that he never once showed an explosion of rage toward the male protagonist makes him a truly magnanimous person, don't you think?
