Tell me about the strict military discipline you remember from your service

Back when I was a Private First Class,
they wouldn't let me lean my back against my locker.
They wouldn't let me hold my combat boots to polish them; I had to keep them on the ground while polishing.
They also wouldn't let us mix our rice into the soup.
