When one person in a friend group suddenly hits the jackpot

‌
Eventually, you drift apart from that friend.
Conversely, you also drift apart if they go completely broke.
In the former case, the existing members feel envy and jealousy.
In the latter case, the person themselves disappears.
One could say those people aren't true friends, and while that might be true,
that is simply the reality of it.
