Luka Doncic's recent status.JPG

Doncic is averaging 38.5 points per game with 308 points through 8 games this season.
Since the merger of the NBA and ABA, i.e., the Wilt Chamberlain era, this is the highest scoring through 8 games.
He is currently 1 point ahead of legendary Michael Jordan's 37.1 points through 8 games in the 1986-87 season.
Based on this performance, Doncic has risen to 1st place on the MVP ladder.
He is making a run for his first career MVP.
