[Breaking News] President Lee declares direct confrontation regarding farmland investigation...
"Must be done despite interference and backlash"

Regarding the controversial full-scale investigation of farmland,
President Lee Jae-myung expressed a firm stance that it must be carried out despite interference and backlash.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) in the early hours of the 24th,
President Lee stated, "Even if interference increases and backlash grows, we must do what needs to be done,"
and added, "A full-scale investigation of farmland is essential
to prevent farmland speculation and ensure proper farmland utilization."
President Lee wrote, "The principle of 'land to the tiller' and the government's efforts to uphold it
is a constitutional mandate—the command of the people,"
"While previous governments avoided this due to resistance and backlash,
I will not avoid it."
He further emphasized, "The law, as determined by the people and the National Assembly,
mandates the forced sale of 'farmland purchased under the pretext of farming'
that is left neglected or illegally leased while waiting only for land prices to rise for speculation."
"If it is a law that is not to be followed, it should either not be made or be abolished altogether."
This reminds me of the scenes when he was Governor of Gyeonggi Province, demolishing illegal structures in valleys.
Usually, politicians just let things slide to avoid inconvenience;
why would they do something that causes public outcry and loss of votes?
But the politician Lee Jae-myung was different.
I hope that this unstoppable reform continues to be implemented.
