AI Changes the Formula: "Memory Shortage Won't End in a Few Quarters"

Dan Kim, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of TechInsights, stated at a semiconductor seminar held at the National Assembly Member's Hall on the 21st, "Even in the United States, there is currently no precise understanding of how serious the supply shortage situation is," adding, "While some views suggest it will last for a few quarters, we expect it to last much longer."
CSO Kim identified three causes for the shortage: rapidly increasing AI demand, the fact that expanding semiconductor fabrication plants takes more than three years, and the high wafer usage of HBM.
He predicted, "Despite memory companies making significant investments to increase long-term production capacity, the supply shortage will persist for the time being."
