Is misogyny severe in Japan?

‌If misogyny were truly that extreme, I don't think situations like the ones below would even be possible at all.
The arguments people always bring up are things like Japanese variety shows being sadistic toward female guests, or being lewd and suggestive...
Isn't this just a wishful desire to contrast "sweet" Korean men in their 40s against "uncivilized" Japanese men who mistreat women?
I suppose there might be cases where women are treated poorly simply because they are physically weaker, but that's true everywhere.
Some older men talk nonsense about Japanese men being "macho," but since they are prone to lip service, backstabbing, and bullying/ostracism,
it seems like their personalities are actually the exact opposite—more feminine.
Compared to the West, is it actually true that misogyny is five times more severe socially?
