During its heyday, Japan's GDP rose to 75% of the US, and when calculated per capita, it was effectively number one in the world.
There was a time when even if you combined the UK, France, and Germany, they were still below Japan.
Now, it is one-eighth the size of the US.
4th in the world.
Some might say, "But it's still 4th in the world," but compared to its golden age, it has become so diminished....
Those currently in their 50s, who spent their 20s during that golden era, might find this reality hard to believe.
