The actress who was scouted for the role of Sybill Trelawney, the Divination professor in the Harry Potter series, but turned it down

British actress Tilda Swinton.
It is said that Tilda Swinton was once offered the role of Sybill Trelawney, the Divination professor in the Harry Potter series.
However, she reportedly turned it down because she disliked the Harry Potter series for romanticizing British boarding school culture. In fact, Tilda Swinton attended an all-girls boarding school herself, and she described her experience there as quite unpleasant.
She went as far as criticizing it, stating that the environment is extremely lonely and isolated, and is not good for growing children.
She felt so strongly about it that she even enrolled her own children in an alternative school she helped create.
Ultimately, the role of Sybill Trelawney was taken by Emma Thompson instead of Tilda Swinton.
