Overseas, you can often see Korean newspapers being used as wrapping paper or waste paper.
This is because Korean newspaper companies are exporting massive quantities of newly printed newspapers abroad.
While the number of print newspaper subscribers in Korea has decreased significantly,
the circulation numbers remain almost the same as in the past.
Since circulation numbers determine a newspaper company's influence and advertising rates,
as well as serving as the criteria for government subsidies,
they continue to print large quantities of newspapers even though the number of subscribers has dropped,
and then sell the surplus overseas...
