Do people do car camping because they don't have money?

Why do people sleep in a cramped car when they go on trips?
Even places where car camping is allowed aren't spacious,
and they end up sleeping on the street anyway.
But they're sleeping inside a car instead of on the ground, right?
I'm truly curious
what the "vibe" is supposed to be about.
