Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force - Building the World's Largest Aegis Cruiser

ASEV, a cruiser equipped with the Aegis system.
It is a somewhat ambiguous yet unique vessel.
Originally, it was not intended as a combat ship to secure command of the sea,
but started as a concept for a maritime missile battery to defend Japanese territory from ballistic missiles.
Due to various circumstances, it ended up being completed as a multi-purpose vessel.
Since they say two batteries are enough, they are only building two units.
Because it specializes in high-altitude defense, it is vulnerable to low-altitude air defense,
but since it won't be operating alone, that shouldn't be an issue.
