Do you ignore people who approach you on the street talking about God?

But why do these people follow you to a certain extent and keep rambling on about God and whatnot when you ignore them?
It's not like God is living my life for me. Seriously, someone approached me last night, and just now, while walking down the street,
someone started talking about God again, and it's incredibly annoying.
Does doing that actually work for proselytizing?
I'm non-religious, and if I had any interest in religion, I would have gone to a church or something a long time ago.
