Candidate for Head of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency, Kim Ji-yong, Fined 7 Times for School Zone and Speeding Violations Over 5 Years

From October 2022 to September 2026, candidate Kim was caught 7 times for speeding, speeding in school zones, and signal/instruction violations over the past 5 years, paying a total of 326,000 KRW in fines for violating the Road Traffic Act.
Candidate Kim was also caught for speeding twice this year. In July of this year, he was caught for speeding in Singil-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, and in September of this year in Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, paying 32,000 KRW in fines for each instance.
Two cases of speeding within school zones were also confirmed. In October 2022, near Hatap Elementary School in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, and in January 2025, in a school zone near Unjung Elementary School in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, candidate Kim exceeded the speed limit by 20 km/h, paying fines of 70,000 KRW and 56,000 KRW, respectively.
