What is the difference between Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies?

‌Bitcoin advocates
say that Bitcoin is an absolute entity
that can even replace gold,
but isn't that the same for other cryptocurrencies?
However, other cryptocurrencies crash and disappear all the time,
so why is it that only Bitcoin maintains its price?
