That is why they are trying to develop at least one large-scale region following the Seoul Metropolitan Area.
It is a given that the single-pole system of the Seoul Metropolitan Area must not be allowed. Those who claim that the Chungcheong region has the highest probability of success are merely speaking based on personal speculation; there are accurate analysis results.
These are the simulator results by region.
1. Busan Southeast Region
According to the research team's analysis, to create an "agglomeration economy effect" that breaks the absorption power of the Seoul Metropolitan Area and retains local youth, a single market of at least 7 to 8 million people is required. Among non-metropolitan areas, the Southeast region (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) is the only one that meets this figure, yielding the greatest synergy in population inflow and defense relative to investment.
The Southeast region can establish an industrial belt and transportation links stretching from Pohang to Yeosu-Gwangyang to the left, and can connect with Daegu-Gyeongbuk to the north to build a single market of 13 million people.
2. Chungcheong / Gangwon Region (Absorption by Seoul Metropolitan Area)
Chungcheong Region (Absorption by Seoul Metropolitan Area): As a result of the Seoul Metropolitan Area connectivity analysis, areas such as Cheonan and Asan in South Chungcheong Province and Wonju in Gangwon Province showed a phenomenon of being absorbed into the Seoul/Metropolitan Area mega-city region rather than functioning as local mega-cities.
