Car polishing is a scam

Apparently, this person scratched up their whole car while trying to polish it themselves, so they ended up paying for professional polishing.
It might actually be cheaper to just skip the manual washing, use gas station automatic car washes, and then just get a professional polish every 1 or 2 years for convenience.
If you find a decent shop to do polishing and glass coating once every few years, it seems like you could maintain a pretty good condition.
