I just watched Exhuma in the theater for the first time, and it was worse than I expected

Since they are running a ScreenX special exhibition (Gonjiam, Salmokji, Exhuma) to meet the screen quota,
I went to see Exhuma, which I missed when it was first released.
First of all, it was my first time visiting the Yeongdeungpo ScreenX, and the theater is truly excellent.
It is much better than Yongsan Theater 14 ScreenX.
The wing screens on both sides of the large screen provide much more immersion than the smaller screen in Yongsan Theater 14.
However, the movie itself was not as satisfying as I expected.
I really enjoyed Director Jang Jae-hyun's previous works, Svaha and The Priests...
Up until the third act involving the spirits in the middle, it was very immersive and good... the cast's characters and acting were great, too.
But then, a Japanese samurai suddenly enters the picture, and it turns from an occult film into an exorcism creature feature, and the movie goes off the rails?
What was that?
The director's previous works were eerie yet kept me intrigued until the very end, but this movie lost its momentum once the samurai appeared.
It would have been better if they had just focused on Korean folklore; I wonder if it wouldn't have reached 10 million viewers if they had done that...
They were giving out posters, and they were pretty, so I'm satisfied with that.
