Controversy over Chinese restaurant Jjamppong broth

‌Personally,
when I eat fried rice, I like to finish it off by mixing the rice into the Jjamppong broth.
Sometimes, when a place serves egg soup with fried rice, it feels a bit greasy.
However, the Chinese restaurant in front of my office serves egg soup.
When I asked if they could give me Jjamppong broth instead,
a senior colleague at work said they don't know how to eat it that way.
They claimed that egg soup is the true essence of a Chinese restaurant and said they wouldn't even go to a place that serves Jjamppong broth,
then they started forcing me to try the egg soup.
I mean, I'm just saying I want to eat Jjamppong broth,
why are they being so nosy?
