Do I have to take prostate enlargement medication for the rest of my life?

‌I've been taking prescribed medication for frequent urination for two weeks now, and to exaggerate a little, it feels like I'm living a whole new life. It's so great.
But I have to take this medication for the rest of my life, right?
I searched on YouTube, and there was a lot of talk saying that unless you are completely cured through surgery, you have to take it until you die.
I'm wondering if it's correct to view this in the same light as diabetes medication, where the medicine only improves the symptoms but doesn't actually cure the condition.
