Besides convenience, what are the benefits of wearing slippers barefoot when going out?

As for the disadvantages, I feel there are issues such as
slipping, lack of heel support, overuse of toes, weak foot protection in case of accidents, and aesthetic concerns like exposed toenails and dry heels.
As for the advantages, nothing comes to mind other than fashion trends and wearer convenience.
There must be more reasons why they are so popular.
