When Seo Jang-hoon and Hur Jae played in the KBL, did they ever feel like "semi-mercenaries"?
Not at all.
Even Seo Jang-hoon scored a lot, but he had few championships and was treated like a "lukewarm" asset (something hard to discard but not entirely useful).
If anything, players like Kim Joo-sung, Keon Seung-jin, or Moon Tae-young gave off that vibe, but those two definitely didn't..
On the other hand, because Lee Hyun-jung plays as an Asian Quarter (AQ) player, he led his team to a league championship even if the team's foreign players were mediocre.
He even added an Asian Games gold medal to his career, so he has nothing to lose. Korea isn't exactly a country where we can easily stack up other championship titles through basketball.
