The ending of the Odyssey is strange

It doesn't just end with him reclaiming his kingdom and his wife;
it feels more like a "lesson being taught" where the parents of the suitors go to the underworld to hunt Odysseus down.
The scale expands, but then Zeus and Athena establish a divine order to suppress them and it ends there.
